Maintenance – the Smart Factory’s backbone

Ensuring production facility uptime goes hand in hand with challenging requirements.

Networking of installations, products and processes is continuously on the rise – also raising the requirements for maintenance. For one thing is clear: The best possible uptime of auto-mated and highly flexible production systems cannot be ensured without smart maintenance. This makes the Smart Maintenance Pavillon an important platform for dialog – not exclusively among maintenance experts.

Maintenance tasks and responsibilities are becoming ever more diverse with the onset of Industry 4.0 and the associated networking. The special show underlined the relevance of smart maintenance in automated production processes: A compact mix of information, practical examples and field reports. This included actual exhibitor and Demopark Maintenance applications on the one hand, and in-depth expert knowledge on the other hand – presented in relevant lectures of the IT2I Forum and at the meeting point “Meet the Experts”. Acoem, IAS Mexis, Softgate, SOGEMA and others provided valuable insights.

Smart Maintenance Pavillon – experience technology

The scenarios in the Demopark showed real problems such as in drive shaft vibration measurements and the implementation of suitable measures in case of malfunctions to prevent machine downtime. Other examples included the use of AR solutions in plant maintenance as well as CMMS solutions for flexible plant management. In addition, visitors might attend concise “Meet the Experts” workshops on current applications and solutions – in an interactive hands-on format in small groups.
